The Story

Why This Experience Exists

Step beyond Jaipur's celebrated façades and into the neighbourhoods that keep the old city alive.

The Living Walled City is an intimate exploration of Jaipur's everyday life — its historic lanes, family-run businesses, neighbourhood shrines, traditional occupations and the people who have shaped these streets across generations.

Rather than moving from one monument to another, we slow down to observe how the city actually works: where people live and work, how communities gather, why certain trades found their home in particular lanes, and how centuries-old traditions continue alongside a rapidly changing Jaipur.

This is not a sightseeing tour. It is a chance to meet Jaipur beyond its landmarks — and understand the city through the people who live within its walls.

The Journey

What You'll Experience

  • Walk through hidden residential mohallas (quarters) where daily life continues unchanged
  • Discover religious diversity within the old city — temples, mosques, and Jain shrines side by side
  • Understand Jaipur's extraordinary urban planning through the grid of the walled city
  • Wander through lesser-explored lanes that more often belong to the people of Jaipur
  • Explore Jaipur's historic markets as a living economic ecosystem rather than simply a commercial stop
  • Where possible, strike up friendly conversations with residents, passersby, artisans, shopkeepers and vendors
  • Pause at old havelis, doorways and courtyards to understand traditional home design, functionality and social status
